I’m Jon Bowden, a freelance Director of Photography and cameraman based in Auckland, working across television, documentary, corporate and commercial production throughout New Zealand and internationally.

With over 25 years’ experience in film and television, I’ve worked with broadcasters and production companies including the BBC, Netflix, Amazon and Discovery, shooting documentaries, factual television, branded content and behind-the-scenes productions.

My work focuses on practical, story-led cinematography — working efficiently on location, adapting quickly to real-world environments, and delivering broadcast-quality images whether filming small documentary crews or large-scale productions.

I regularly work as a DOP, self-shooting director and camera operator on projects ranging from international television series and true crime documentaries to corporate communications and live events. Based in Auckland, I’m available for productions across New Zealand and overseas.
